Sara inspires Diva bikes ‘made for women’

Christmas has come early for all women who love to cycle, love to go fast and dream of winning races on a bike which is the choice of many Australian champions.

Teschner, designers of Australia’s most successful racing bike—their bikes have won over 200 major championships on the Australian, Commonwealth, World and Olympic stage—have today launched a world-class road bike specially made for women.

Sara Carrigan, gold medallist from the Athens Olympic Road Race, has been the inspiration for the Diva range of racing bikes and she is ecstatic that all women will now be able to buy a bike with a proven racing pedigree designed specifically to fit the female form.

‘For too long women have been the “poor cousins” when it comes to choice in bikes,’ Carrigan said.

‘If they wanted a top line racing bike, more often than not, they’ve had to buy a bike built for men and then had to spend extra time, effort and money to have it adapted to fit—Diva means an end to compromise and ill-fitting bikes.

‘For years I and many other pro women cyclists have been riding and winning major races on Teschner designed bikes. Now with the launch of Teschner Technologies’ Diva range, all women can finally buy this expertise off the rack—and they look stunning!’

Sara’s sublime victory in Athens over her more favoured rivals catapulted her into the public view. The designer of Diva, Peter Teschner, may be less well known but is no less successful with his bikes winning over 200 major championships—for an amazing seven years in a row, from 1999– 2005, every woman who won the Australian Women’s Time Trial Championships rode a Teschner.

The launch of the Diva is an important step for the expanding Teschner Technologies Group.

‘Cycling for women is booming. There is a real demand for bikes that give them the same choices in performance, speed and fit as the men so they too can enjoy cycling with no limits,’ Teschner said.

‘Compared to men, women traditionally have a shorter trunk length relative to leg length, narrower shoulders and a different pelvic structure. This means they need bikes with shorter top tubes, narrower handle bars and different frame angles.

‘Diva bikes build on our many years of experience building bikes for riders like Sara Carrigan and come with a full complement of women-specific components—something we think will be appreciated by all women who enjoy riding good bikes.’
